We live in a world full of plastics – plastic materials have formed the 20th century and have strongly influenced everyday life of mankind. These materials promise an endless mutability and render numerous properties in conjunction with an almost infinite variety of shapes. On one hand plastics offer practically unlimited possibilities for the development of hightech products, on the other hand we pollute our environment with a flood of discarded plastics waste. Despite their omnipresence, the origin and processing possibilities of these materials are widely unknown to us. The exhibition critically highlights the technological, creative, and ecological aspects of this material. Plastics are, unlike in earlier days, not only alternative materials, but have won themselves a place of their own in the lineup of materials.
