To mend or to discard? Careful dealings with things is by far not an economic necessity anymore, in our age of cheap and cheapest ways of manufacture. But the question of economy is raised also today: We mend there where it is worth it. «flick gut» is about the (emotional) added value. And it is about an aesthetic concept. The repair techniques and aids reach from stopgap measures via technical repair jobs and digital utilities to the facelifting and bodywork, which should create a new human identity. «flick gut» is an exhibition about trade and the aesthetics of repairing, about sense and value (or esteem) of mending in one's dealing with objects, body and soul.
